The Perfect Steak Dinner for your Valentine

We know Valentine’s Day can often be stressful when it should be a holiday of love and relaxation. Restaurant reservations are hard to come by, you forgot their favorite flowers or maybe you forgot today was the day and now you’re in a crunch. This year, we have you covered with a delicious, savory steak dinner to make celebrating your Valentine at home extra special.

Impress your Valentine and leave them believing you’re a culinary genius! In today’s recipe video, we use a ribeye steak cut, but you can substitute it for your favorite cut of steak. The garlic-herb butter makes every bite decadent and will have your date asking for seconds. Make your date night at home complete with your choice of vegetables; we paired our ribeye with a baked potato and green beans.

Flavor is everything when preparing a steak and you likely have most of the ingredients at home. In this recipe, we combine fresh herbs, garlic, butter, soybean oil, salt, and pepper to season the steak. The mixture of ingredients leaves you with a tender steak that’s layered with earthy flavors. Instead of scrambling for last-minute reservations, this year, surprise your valentine with a steak dinner paired with red wine for the perfect night in (don’t forget to decorate the table with a bouquet of roses)!

Ingredients

Steak
Herb Butter

Instructions

Steak
  1. Remove steaks from the refrigerator and any packaging and let sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. Season both sides of each steak with salt and pepper. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Preheat a heavy, oven-safe skillet over high heat until it is smoking hot. Add in 1 tablespoon soybean oil and 1 tablespoon butter. Sear steaks in the hot pan for 2-3 minutes per side. Add rosemary and garlic into the pan and turn the steak onto its side and render the fat by searing it for 1-2 minutes. Baste your steaks with butter and mixture for 1-2 minutes and remove steaks from the pan and set them aside briefly. Slide the skillet into the preheated oven to finish cooking, about 10-15 minutes for medium-rare. Use a meat thermometer to ensure accuracy.
Herb Butter
  1. Set 4 tbsp of butter aside while cooking your steak. To combine easily, soften butter or keep it at room temperature. Finely chop rosemary, thyme (or your choice of herbs), and 2 cloves of garlic. Once you have finely chopped the herbs, combine with butter in a bowl, and mix. Refrigerate until ready to use.
