Growing up on a farm, April knew agriculture would always be a part of her life. Through attending South Dakota State University (SDSU), she completed an internship with Ag United for South Dakota, expanding her industry knowledge.

After meeting James Bowar at SDSU, the couple got married and moved to Faulkton to start their life together. They live near the Bowar family farm, where they grow corn and soybeans.

Joining the Faulkton community, April quickly made her mark, not only in farming but also through her work at Quilter’s Corner, where she found another outlet for her creativity and passion for local engagement.

April’s path into farming is one marked by passion, partnership, and a profound connection to the land. She credits her role as a woman in agriculture with bringing both challenges and opportunities, shaping her unique approach to farming and community involvement.

As she looks toward the future, April is committed to innovation on the farm and expanding her contributions to the broader agricultural community. Her new role on the Board of Directors for the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council has ignited her passion for education and advocacy as she works to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers.
